  • ​The Influence Of LED On The Performance Of People Of Different Age Groups

     With the development of LED and its control technology, people began to pursue excellent light quality to meet their own demands for health and color quality. The LED light source is small, easy to control, and adjustable, providing opportunities and challenges for health and comfort. In recent years, the impact of light on human health has been deeply studied. New LED devices are also developing rapidly. The application of LED technology in life and medical care is increasing. These fields have become the new blue ocean for LED technology applications.


    On October 23-25, 2018, the 15th China International Semiconductor Forum (SSLCHINA 2018) and the 2018 International Third Generation Semiconductor Forum (IFWS 2018) were held in Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. On the morning of the 25th, the theme group of “Light Quality and Light Health Technology (Light Quality)” was successfully held.

    At the meeting, Professor of Zhejiang University and Vice Chairman of the International Committee Luo gave a keynote report on the impact of LED on the performance of people of different age groups.


    In this study, children, young people, and the elderly were tested, and work performance studies were conducted on 12, 17 and 18 subjects. Please note that few studies compare the effects of different age groups. For the children group, there were 3 CCTs (3000, 4000, 5000) from 5 sources, each with a diurnal stimulation (CS) value of 0.22 and 0.42, respectively. For the youth group, only three sources with the same 4000 K were studied as youth groups. Their CS values are 0.26, 0.41 and 0.44, respectively. The elderly group has 4 sources, including 3000K, 4000K and 6500K, CS is 0.4, and the remaining 4000K CS is 0.26. A total of 10 tests were conducted using questionnaires (KSS, mood, PANAS, fatigue), performance (d2, reading, Schulte grid) and eye fatigue (CFF and Landolt rings). The results table shows that the results of all three groups show a higher CS source with higher performance. For the youth group, 4000 K found the highest performance. For the elderly group, CCT showed a higher performance. The results also showed an overall trend that eye fatigue was negatively correlated with job performance.
