    The second trend is the increasing concentration of LED chip manufacturing industry. LED industry technology, scale advantages are very important, product prices will continue to decline, the penetration rate continues to increase, the cost of direct materials has been very limited, mainly relying on technological advances and scale advantages to drive down costs, thereby offsetting the decline in product prices and stable gross margins.

    At this stage, the most important technology that can be seen is in the application of new products such as MiniLED and MicroLED in display products. According to Ke Zhijie, executive director of Dry Optoelectronics Future Display Research Institute, "MicroLED can be regarded as a combination of LED lighting industry and display industry, and has different technical requirements for process accuracy, process integration, etc. Even MiniLED has It belongs to the category of integrated packaging, so, from a technical perspective, MicroLED must be an industrial upgrade, and in addition, the display market has a scale of nearly trillion dollars, and it will grow bigger and bigger, and it will reach a point where everything will be displayed in the future.     It is worth noting that MiniLEDs and MicroLEDs will bring innovations in product applications compared to conventional LEDs, while on the device side, MiniLEDs and MicroLEDs will require more stringent equipment.

    From the perspective of equipment, MiniLEDs and MicroLEDs belong to the category of LEDs. Their production equipment and traditional LED production equipment are roughly the same, but the technology is a qualitative leap, and the requirements for stability and consistency are very high.

    In the case of MiniLEDs, the evolution of the epitaxial chip manufacturers' machines is relatively small, mainly the test machine's needs. The rest are basically the equipment needed for the flip chip, and only need to increase with the market demand. For MicroLEDs, the challenges are relatively high. From the EPI homogeneity, machine selection, to small-chip testing, massive transfer, and high-precision bonding, which currently have no mature solutions, there are many challenges, including laser ablation. Equipment requirements and so on.

    It is worth mentioning that MicroLED is likely to be a combination of TFT panels, or combined with CMOS substrates. Therefore, it is also worth looking forward to whether there is equipment manufacturer cross-border to design integration-related equipment.

    From the perspective of product application, MiniLED and MicroLED are excellent solutions in terms of definition, picture quality, thickness, reaction speed, etc. In particular, the MicroLED solution is unmatched by other application solutions. , will multiply the demand space.

    Therefore, in Li Bingjie's view, MiniLED has opportunities this year, but it is estimated that the actual use of the LED will fall significantly in the year. As for the possibility of MicroLED this year is not high, even if there are not many, the main technical breakthrough is expected. The volume of MicroLEDs should be beyond 2020.

    I believe everyone has also noticed that in the past two years, Epistar has been actively deploying MiniLEDs and MicroLEDs, especially Mini LED, which has become one of the more promising industries for Epistar. It is understood that Epistar may begin production of MiniLEDs for smartphone backlighting in the third quarter of 2018, and plans to start production of MinLEDs for LCD TVs and gaming display backlights by the end of 2018, while also producing Mini LED finesses.     Looking again at Huacan Optoelectronics, as the second largest LED chip manufacturer in the domestic market, MicroLED was studied very early. Up to now, Huacan Optoelectronics has launched a more mature chip product in the Mini Blu-ray chip for backlight application to the Mini-RGB chip for display applications, and there are approximately a few hundred KK shipments.

    For the new application of LEDs in the display area, dry-light optoelectronics also performed more actively. It is reported that Ganji Optoelectronics has newly established the “Future Display Institute” and cooperates with downstream partners to develop MiniLED and MicroLED new products. According to Ke Zhijie, “Qianguang Optoelectronics has already begun to place orders for customers in the MiniLED segment. In the future, it will increase production capacity accordingly as customer demand increases. This will become an important complement to revenue.”
